Find a comfortable spot outside, watch the sky for a few minutes, and see how many different kinds of clouds you can recognize.
☁️ Cumulus — Puffy, cotton-like clouds often associated with fair weather.
🌫️ Stratus — Low, gray clouds that spread across the sky like a blanket.
🌦️ Nimbostratus — Thick, dark layers that can bring steady rain.
⛈️ Cumulonimbus — Tall, towering storm clouds associated with heavy rain, lightning, and thunderstorms.
🌤️ Cirrus — Thin, wispy clouds found high in the atmosphere, often signaling a change in weather.
Try this outdoor challenge: Spend 15 minutes observing the sky. Sketch or photograph the clouds you see, identify their types, and notice how they move and change. Check again a few hours later—is the sky different?
Cloud watching is a wonderful reminder that nature isn’t only beneath our feet. There’s an entire world to explore above our heads!
