Polar bears are the poster child for climate change. People aren’t paying attention to insects. Without insects, there are no plants, there is no food. Recently scientists have named the decrease in insects as the ‘insect apocalypse’. In 2017 scientists measure a 75% decline in insects in Germany. Insects are responsible for 1 in 3 bites of food. Estimates indicate there are potentially 2 million to 30 million insects species on earth. Scientists understand the many connections insects are responsible for. Habitat loss linked to climate change is the largest culprit to insect loss. Don’t ignore the insects because they are smaller than other organisms. These tiny insects carry the largest impact to life on earth.
