E. O. Wilson, the father of sociobiology, suggests protecting half the Earth, and living on the other half. The conservation community should aim for a big goal instead of incremental progress. The principal cause of extinction is habitat loss. By protecting half the planet we could potentially protect 80% of life on earth. Half the battle is convincing humans to accept this idea.
