Wallace’s giant bee (the size of a human thumb) was spotted in North Moluccas, Indonesia. The bee was building a nest inside a termite mound (which is where they live). Habitat for this bee is threatened by agriculture and massive deforestation. Size and rarity also contribute to the bee’s elusiveness.
