Fungus Targets Peruvian Rain Forest Frogs

University of Michigan biologists documented the presence chytrid fungus in 80 species of Amazon Peruvian frogs. The chytrid fungus has caused amphibian declines worldwide over the last 40 years. Scientists ignored the lowlands as being to warm to for chytrid fungus to survive. The chytrid fungus does behave differently in warmer regions as infected frogs do not show symptoms. Chytrid fungus affects the Amazon Peruvian frogs equally. Scientists concluded further study is needed and there are key factors they are missing for this population
