Cornell Lab of Ornithology analyzed decades of bird population data to realize one in four birds in North America has disappeared . Pesticide use and habitat loss are the largest contributors to bird loss. Grassland bird species have experienced a 53% loss-the largest of any species. Understanding where birds migrate is large piece of the puzzle to preventing further bird loss. Bird census projects are necessary to continue monitoring the bird populations. Raising public awareness is necessary to help the birds.
